I'm gonna keep it quick here because I'm on my way to a job interview. In an unfortunate turn of events, I have a puffy forehead from having PT this morning and lying flat-down on the massage table. Good times.
Here are some bits from my week, which has been altogether lovely so far.
We had a huge ant mount that was causing havoc in the yard. My husband was going to do all sorts of things with chemicals until I did a quick Google search. Turns out you can just boil a kettle of water, pour that all over the mound and cross your fingers. It totally worked. Ant mound gone.
This wine is a great pinot if you love pinot. I don't love pinot, but I'd still give it an 8/10. I've been sipping it all week, which is probably not what wine connoisseur do. :)
I got the game of Life and played that with Maggie during her last days of summer. We had some good laughs when we got kids, figured out our jobs (I was a scientist...hahahah) and tried to manage a $600k house on a $100/year budget.
Poor Sandy has been up all night having to go out to the bathroom. Bless her little dog heart. Ray was valiant and got up with her at least five times. She's flopped today, sleeping and laying on the porch. I hope she feels better soon.
My migraines got so bad the past two weeks that I bought this CBD oil, after confirming with the store clerk that it's not pot, and I won't get high. She thought that was pretty funny, but honestly, does anyone really understand this stuff? She promised that it would help, and I took it three days in a row. All three days my migraines stayed just a shimmer, never breaking out. I also took Motrin, but I didn't take my prescription meds because I was out, and my insurance only allows 12 pills per month. I will do just about anything (legal) to fight these migraines. I can't say yet if this 'works' or not, but I'll keep it handy and keep you posted.
That's it for me. My husband got my phone working again, so I was able to download these awesome pics. :)
Here are a few bits from the web that caught my eye this week:
I'm dying to try this chocolate-chip cookie brittle, which I may try with gluten-free flour. Fingers crossed.
I appreciated this article on help for young mothers because it includes doula support. I had a doula and a postpartum doula, and both were such a big part of my labor, delivery and early motherhood experience.
My sister got this off Amazon and is going to report back. People rave.
As my skin continues to dry with age (and lack of water), I got this facial treatment essence. People rave (again), and it was a splurge. I'll let you know how it goes. I feel like my skin looked brighter today, but I'm putting that down to placebo effect.
This article on how to help kids write is a little nicer and softer than my Draconian methods. My son is currently writing an essay on how to make a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, an essay he tried to complete with three half-assed sentences. We don't accept that kind of effort in this house. :)
I'm sure you're all breathing a sigh of relief that you're not my children.
With that, I'm off to oversee this essay, clean the kitchen and do more reading for school. It took me a full three hours to read one chapter from my counseling theory class - 3 hours! I wasn't even taking notes or making flash cards. The good news? I focused for the whole 3 hours. Whew. My iPhone hasn't completely dulled my attention span.
