Do you find yourself saying the same things over...and over....and over.....again?
Sometimes I think I'll have a full-fledged mental breakdown from saying the following:
Brush your teeth.
Please be respectful with your words.
Shut the door.
Close the fridge.
You just ate.
Are you wearing underwear?
You can't wear flip-flops. Yes. Really.
That's too expensive.
You don't need that.
I have a migraine.
That's a sometimes food.
But as I write this, I am reminded that I say other things over...and over....and over...again, too.
These things don't elicit the same vexation.
I love you.
I'm so glad I get to be your mom.
Yes, we can cuddle.
Will you get me my glasses?
Tell me more.
Why was your day good?
Your father's home.
I love Sandy, too.
Will you bring me exactly 5 M&Ms. Yes, just 5. I promise I won't send you back for more.
Could you bring me just 3 more? I know. I know!
Yes, we can go to the library.
Yeah, I'll play soccer, but don't kick it too hard. Okay?
I love you.
So, when I think of all the things I say to my kids, on repeat, day in and day out, I can't complain one bit. Some of it's pretty great.
What do you say on repeat?
