A while back I wrote about reading Opal Whitely's diary as a sort of balm after some discouraging and negative fiction. Her diary is so sweet and wise, it sort of lifts you right up.
I love this little excerpt:
Today the grandpa dug potatoes in the field.
I followed along after.
I picked them up and piled them into piles.
Some of them were very plump.
And all the time I was picking up potatoes
I did have conversations with them.
To some potatoes I did tell about
my hospital in the near woods
and all the little folk in it
and how much prayers and songs
and mentholatum helps them to have well feels.
Now, whenever I see something that makes me smile or calms my heart, I think of it as giving me well feels.
To that end, here are three things that brightened up my week and gave me just that: well feels.
Doesn't this speak to the power of touch?
I love how the older elephants just keep on walking. :)
Any parent who has tried to give a child medicine will appreciate this video. My kids loved this one.
Otherwise, we've had a lovely weekend. There have been bouts of rain but also bouts of sunshine, and our daughter's ballet performance made me cry and truly have some well feels. I hope everyone else is waking up to a lovely day.
