We're another week closer to summer break. That's both exciting and terrifying. What.will.we.do?
My week was low-key and easy. My husband was out of town for a few days, which makes sleep harder but mealtimes easy-peasy. Scrambled eggs and a smoothie? Done. We're all back together this weekend, with grandparents along for the ride, as we go watch our girl perform Giselle. Otherwise, we're going to eat BBQ and watch it rain.
Here are a few pics from my week:
I'm using this mug lately. It holds less coffee, which is a good thing. Sometimes less is more - even with coffee.
I can tolerate about 2 days of rain before I start to get wonky. Too much rain/cloudiness affects me much like too little sleep. I go bonkers. I thought, when we moved here, I would live here a good decade or so. I am not so convinced when I see this forecast. I feel like it has rained for months after a good, solid 6 weeks of off/on snow. Sunshine is so under-rated.
This Skyfall chardonnay was good - a 7/10. It's solid. I'll say, while my husband was out of town, I didn't drink wine. I felt much better. I had more energy at night and was more even-keeled throughout the evening. I'm not sure I want to get back on the wine bandwagon at all.
I've been eating nice lunches this week, at a local restaurant famed for being all handmade, from scratch, organic and anything else that's good-for-you. I love it. I eat this and don't feel heavy or hungry again until dinner. This is how eating should be. A bargain at $13.
I was sick to death of blowing out my hair this week and wrapped it into a topknot. I loved it and got heaps of compliments. Blow dryers are for the birds. Also, why do my hands look enormous in selfies?
And now a few bits I'm enjoying from around the web:
Taking a fake break? Modern Mrs. Darcy makes a legit point.
A kitchen alter? How do we feel about alters in general? Clutter or coziness?
I want to make this Minty Pea Soup. I'll be the only one in my family to eat it, which is fine by me.
Love this HONY story: if I use soap, will you date me? :)
I hope everyone is looking forward to strong coffee, lazy mornings and some time outdoors this weekend. I'm going to take Sandy on a little hike before the craziness of the day sweeps us away.
