This week didn't fly by, yet here it is: Friday. It's overcast here and threatening to storm, but apparently we need rain because the fish in the pond nearby are dying due to high heat and lack of oxygen. I'm not sure about the science of that, but it seems legit.
Here are a few pics from my week, which included lots of drive time getting kids to ballet, soccer, school and DQ Blizzard runs. We're going to need to wean off those here soon. Who knew Cotton Candy Blizzards would taste exactly like pink and white animal cookies?
I bought this coffee because it's named Kilimanjaro; I just finished Hemingway's short story, and I'm one of those people who is easily marketed to. It's a slight bit sour for my taste, but my palate is distorted by Starbucks.
Maggie takes Sandy on a walk every afternoon when she gets home from school; thus, there is a certain devotion Sandy has for Maggie and nobody else. My favorite part of this picture is Maggie's profile. She looks like she could rule the world, which she would do by first getting her iPhone back and then forcing me into some sort of labor camp.
I left the kitchen a rancid mess one night, half-hoping someone else might do the dishes and half-hoping I could be one of those women who throws caution to the wind and goes to bed with a heaping mess only to wake up and not give a damn. I gave many damns. This was an awful way to wake up.
As I loved the J Pinot Gris a few weeks ago, I tried their pinot noir. It's good and solid, but it didn't knock my socks off like the other. Still, we managed to finish it off.
Sandy and I went on a little hike together at a local nature preserve. I like hiking here because of all the tree roots. The path is well-worn and clearly-marked, but I like to have to think a little bit about where I'm stepping. It's like walking meditation.
And now...from around the web:
I've always wanted to visit Japan; this list of 25 Most Beautiful Places in Japan only makes my desire stronger.
While we're at it, here are the Best Islands in the World. I guess I'm having some serious wanderlust. I want to flop on a beach and drink cucumber infused cocktails and read before doing yoga at sunset and having a lovely dinner.
One boss's response to his employee taking a mental health day.
This article/video made me cry. We need more kindness and more appreciation....and it doesn't hurt that it all happened in Texas. :)
Beauty Around the World. I loved this. Loved it. I am amazed how photographers can capture so much of a person in a photograph.
That's it for me this week. The weekend is looking pretty low-key so far, for which I'm grateful. I hope everyone is barreling along and having bits of joy along the way.
