It's been a hectic, busy day and week. We had our first visit to the orthodontist (someone might need headgear, and it's not me). I hit up Jazzercise a few times and tried to hit 10k steps each day. I also snuck in a date night dinner with my husband complete with jalapeño-infused cocktails. Finally, this morning, I got to catch up with an old friend over coffee. I can't complain a bit.
Here are a few shots from the week:
The barista at the local coffee shop (in the grocery store) got to talking, and as she poured my half-n-half into the iced coffee she just sloshed away. The result was a bit of coffee with my cream. I had to throw it out on the way to the pharmacy. It was so creamy it was coating the top of my mouth. It was nice, however, to chat a bit with the barista and hear her story. I do love people's stories.
I saw this man walking downtown today, and he looked dapper and charming with being affected. It's hard to pull that off. Only in the south could a man wear that hat and not look like he is trying.
This is - hands down - the best wine I've had all year. I've loved Bread & Butter Chardonnay for a few years now and grabbed the pinot when I saw it at the legit wine store. Excellent. I looked forward to it each night while it lasted.
This is a drive-by shot of our downtown parking area. I may have complained about the rain this past winter/spring, but I'm not complaining about this display of color. As I dropped my daughter off at ballet and continued on my way, I truly did pause to appreciate how charming this place is.
I made Jiffy Blueberry muffins today, from a box, to the thrill and applause of my children. They do love a good, dodgy boxed treat.
That's it for my week. After two months of no shopping, I'm taking a peek at possible summer wardrobe items. I know. I'm naughty. But so far, it's just been a peek.
Here is a short roundup of what's tempting me:
This dress from JCrew marries two things I love: stripes and a knee-length skirt.
I don't love fedora hats for women, so it's not surprising that I love this summer hat instead.
This swimsuit is right up my alley.
I've wanted these espadrilles for a few seasons now.
This Ace & Jig dress looks super comfy. I know the price tag is high, but these dresses are true workhorses. I've got two (gifted to me by a hipster friend), and they've lasted through so many trips, moves and washings. I get compliments all the time on my Ace & Jig dresses, and the best part is that they're the most comfortable items I own. Now I just need an extra $350. :)
That's it for me.
I hope everyone is looking forward to strong coffee, good wine and a solid book for the upcoming weekend.
