Over the week, these little gems have come my way, and I thought I'd share. The two comics were forwarded to me via friends, and the Craigslist ad I saw on Tumblr. :)
The painting above introduced me to an artist I'd never before heard of: Herbert James Draper. I felt immediately connected to the subject probably because I love her hair. There was obviously no Dyson blow dryer in sight. It reminds me of that Cormac McCarthy quote from the 1979 novel Suttree: "Remember her hair in the morning before it was pinned, black, rampant, savage with loveliness. As if she slept in perpetual storm."
Savage with loveliness.
Here are the two comics and one Craigslist ad:
This 'comic' representation of a woman's first year of sobriety is taking off on Medium and strikes a nerve. I love the randomness of the thoughts and the vulnerability expressed in this, and I can't say I've ever read about addiction in this format.
Bill Whitehead's comic had me laughing. I can relate. :)
Finally, this Craigslist ad had me dying. Love it. I love the 'funny anecdotes are highly encouraged.' Huffington Post wrote about it, giving a bit more detail on the story here.
I hope everyone has had a lovely week. The sun is out here, and I have two solid hours to myself before school pickup (early today due to Easter/spring break). I'm going to do a Barre 3 workout and clean this rancid house while I listen to Educated.
Spring is upon us.
