It's been a big week for our family. Last Saturday we adopted a dog. I know! I waited a long time for this, and for many years I said no to my kids and husband when they begged for a dog. But I also kept my mind open for the day when a dog would come to us and it might all work out. This was the week. I can't even say anything else about this week because it all fails to compare.
Here are a few pics, nonetheless:
Sandy is 8-years-old and came to a local rescue after living her life outside, being fed by neighbors. She is incredibly gentle and sweet. She is already settling in, finding her favorite spots. She is a dream. Seriously. And I wasn't super excited about having a dog. We love her. My kids are so happy. I think we needed to find each other.
Since I'm out walking Sandy now, I get to look at this instead of the wall in front of my treadmill. #outdoortherapy
I have been letting my hair air dry at night and then straightening it in the morning every few days rather than blowing it dry. It's so much easier on the arm, and I think it feels much softer.
I made chicken soup the other night with some old veggies and added some Swiss chard. It was warming and lovely on a cold March night (there was snow). Big hit with the family; though I left the chard out of the family pot. :)
I got a real letter in the mail, handwritten and including a Starbucks card. My friend said she wanted me to have a latte without having to track my spending. Thank God for good friends. Though military life has its challenges, and moving is hard, the friendships really are the silver lining. I could show up on this woman's doorstep and she'd take me in, feed me and give me an alibi. :)
Sorry about no wine this week. I was taking antibiotics that made me so sick I could barely drive or walk (dizziness) let alone drink alcohol. I haven't had a sip of wine in 8 days, and today I'm heading to the wine store for something really lovely. Time to celebrate.
That's it for me. Here are a few bits from around the web:
The CSM article on math and college campuses spoke to me, as someone who struggled with math my freshman year. I actually convinced the professor to let me write a paper on math if I failed the final exam. Luckily I got a B, but that would have been a good paper. :)
I'm listening to this on Audible and waiting for it to get good. So far I'm 2 hours into it and still waiting.
Looks like Tocca has a new fragrance. I absolutely love everything they make, so I'm excited to smell it.
That's it for me. I'm at Starbucks trying to suck down an almond milk latte. #neveragain
