I’m late checking in tonight because we had a full day of fun. Both kids were off rom school, and I decided to rally hard and pack in as much fun as possible. After parent-teacher conferences, we took Sandy to a nature trail for a hike, went to Starbucks and consumed heaps of snacks, bought fall cozy blankets at TJ Maxx (it was 70 degrees after all), got groceries, baked a cake, wrote essays about our disrespectful behavior, ate a lovely meal and then rode our bikes while Sandy ran alongside us.
Seriously, it was a great day. I needed it after spending half the day in bed yesterday with a migraine. The goods news is that it receded, and it was the first in two weeks.
Here are some pics:
Migraine’s are awful. They are so acute and painful and exhausting and debilitating. If you know someone who gets them, take pity. Seriously. Take pity.
Two kids, forced onto a nature trail, basking in the warm, dry breeze post-Hurricane Michael.
This wine was a good, surprising wine - almost smoky. My husband didn’t like it, but I did. It’s no Klinker Brick but it’s a 7/10.
Texas Sheet Cake. If you’ve never had it, go now and make it. It’s like fudge and cake and sugary frosting all in one. We used the gluten-free flour again. The frosting made up for challenges.
I got these cute napkins at TJ Maxx. I am always using cocktail napkins when people come over, and I’m sick of using the leftovers from the kids’ birthday parties when they were 5 or 6. The other night, I handed someone a kid’s birthday party camouflage napkin. I think they thought, since we’re an Army family, that I was serious.
That’s it for me….
As far as the web goes, I’m all about window shopping these days. I go through phases like this, where I spend hours looking at clothes I have absolutely no need to buy. I have just kind of given into it and accept that every few months, I’ll check out what it would be like to wear a Gucci blouse.
I am really wishing I had somewhere to wear these (and the bank account to afford them)…..
Fabulous bee-embellished shoes.
A lady’s cocktail dress.
A hat to keep my delicate skin…delicate.
The kind of coat you see in Hitchcock films.
The scarf I’d love to knot, just so.
The perfect kitten heel for an all-black ensemble.
A cuff for even though of us who don’t like cuffs.
A statement necklace for a trip to Hong Kong.
Even if they’re all incredibly expensive and made for people who travel aboard yachts and have ‘collections’ of jewelry, sometimes it’s just fun to look. :)
